Betsy Jane (Janie) Benton died peacefully with her loving husband by her side on July 7, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Janie was born in Dyer County, Tennessee on July 16, 1947, to Otis and Emma Key (Hurt). She moved to Colorado Springs at just 18 months old, but always kept roots in Tennessee. Janie grew up on Kiowa St. and attended Garfield Elementary, South Jr. High and Palmer High School. After High School Janie married her soulmate and best friend Arthur Benton and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together.
Janie worked for Farmers Insurance in Colorado Springs and then transferred to Oceanside, California where her and Art made many friends and had many adventures together. She returned to Colorado to be with her grandchildren and lived in Golden for the last 20 years. Janie was involved in TOPS, it was an important part of her life and she made many friends.
Janie is survived by her husband, Arthur. Her two sons, Gary and Steve, her daughter Amy, and her son-in-law Scott. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers and her nephew.
Janie touched many lives throughout the years and has left her mark on all of us. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
