Betty Lou Robbins passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021.
Betty was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on October 28, 1962. Shortly after the family moved to Golden, Colorado. She grew up in Golden with her siblings Bobbie, Randy, Delora, Luann, and Cindy, graduating from Golden High School in 1981. She was active in basketball, volleyball, and track during her high school years. A year later, she gave birth to her first-born, Renee, during the blizzard of 1982. Rochelle, William, and Rebecca followed in the next eight years.
Betty was a dedicated reader and passed that love onto her children. She wrote poetry and painted ceramics when she could. Her ability to crochet blankets within a week was a skill people envied. She supported her kids through childhood phases including orange hair that should have been blonde, SpongeBob obsessions, and teenage years when all they wanted was space. Her influence taught her children to love animals, the importance of family, and the meaning of unconditional love.
Her proudest moments came as being a grandma. She loved her grandchildren and spoiled them with candy, toys, snacks, McDonald’s Happy Meals, and whatever other junk food they wanted. They loved sleepovers, movies, playing games, and snuggling with Nana. She was extremely proud of how smart, kind, handsome, and beautiful they all are.
She was predeceased by her father William Robbins, mother Delores Robbins, and sister Bobbie Anderson. She is survived by her four children Renee Barnes, Rochelle Robbins, William Robbins, and Rebecca Robbins; five grandchildren Leland, Gabriel, Athena, Thaddeus, and Savannah; and siblings Randy (Deana) Slight, Delora (Alec) Black, Luann (Tim) Lester, and Cindy Robbins.
She will be laid to rest with her mother at the Golden Cemetery. Services are to be determined.
