Obituary for David H. Drain

David Henry Drain of Golden Colorado passed away on November 8. 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Ethel Drain, his loving wife, Janice Farnum Drain, and his brothers, Donald and John Drain. Dave was surrounded by his loving family of four children, Linda Maillot (Mick), Greg Drain, Lisa Rubenstein (Ed) and Lori Hollingsworth (Mike). He was blessed with six grandchildren: Sean (Heather), Brianne, Lindsey, Bret, Ryan, Samuel, and Mathew his great-grandchild.
Dave was born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1955. After graduating, he joined the Airforce as a communication specialist. While serving in Washington DC he met his future wife Janice Farnum, who he married in September 1958. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1959, the happy couple moved to Colorado where they raised their family. Dave spent most of his career in machine tool sales, which led him to start his own business, Triad Machine Tool Company with two partners in the mid 1980’s. With the loss of his wife Jan, in 1997, Dave retired to Lake Havasu, AZ where he lived 20+ years before returning to Golden, Colorado in 2019 to be closer to family. Dave had a great devotion to his family and his grandchildren truly loved the times spent with their “Papa.” Dave enjoyed sharing a cocktail, conversation and laughter with family and friends. He was a good friend, colleague, and mentor to others, who called him by his nickname of “Big Dog Drain.” We will be holding a Celebration of Life for Dave in March 2023. Details to follow…In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory should be made to TUCCfoundation.org (The Urology Center of Colorado Foundation)
