Obituary for John T. Jacobus

John T. Jacobus, 71, of Castle Rock, Colorado, formerly of Verona, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2022 while vacationing on the island of St. Lucia.

John was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and raised in Verona, New Jersey. He was the youngest child of James and Eleanor. Upon graduating from Verona High School in 1969, he was employed by Eastern Airlines and resided in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Over the years, John served Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant, accident investigator and president of the Flight Attendants Union.

John later reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Linda Giancola. They were married, settled in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and lovingly raised their son Jarret. John formed Eastern Janitorial, a company that provided custodial services for many businesses in the surrounding area. He and Lynn later retired to Colorado to be closer to their son and his family. John often said they were, “Living the dream in Castle Rock, Colorado.”

John was very passionate about the care of shelter animals and volunteered regularly with the Dumb Friends League in Castle Rock. He was an active volunteer at various brewery runs and the Douglas County Fairgrounds. John was an adamant supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, Special Olympics and Honor Bell Foundation.

John is survived by his loving wife Lynn, their son Jarret (Hannah) and granddaughter Kennedy. He leaves behind his brother James (Carol) Jacobus, III, sisters Janet (Eugene) Leone and Jennifer (Joseph) LaMura, twin sister Judy Hollander and many nieces and nephews.

John will always be remembered for his personality, thoughtfulness and generosity, He was known for going out of his way to support family and friends. Whenever there was a need, John would help in any way he could. He will be profoundly missed by all those who loved him and fondly referred to him as “ The Rogue”.
