Obituary for Larry David Roberts

On Wednesday, April 20th, Larry David Roberts of Lakewood, passed away unexpectedly due to treatment complications while courageously fighting cancer. During his diagnosis, and throughout his treatment, he was never short on support from his loving family as well as having his wife faithfully by his side.

Larry was a hardworking, loyal man who put all of himself into what he was involved in, whether it was during his 20 years with Jeffco schools, the 28 years as a valued member of Johnson Controls or his many passions outside of his professional careers.

If Larry was not home, it could be a sure thing he was pursuing any number of outdoor sporting or recreational activities. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. Over the last decade, his passion as a family man grew with the time he had with his wife as well as his desire to learn and build relationships with his “adopted” children (5) and grandchildren (10).

Although his passing brings great sorrow to those who were fortunate to be touched by his life, it is that sorrow that lets all realize the gift of having him in their lives was meaningful. It allows for reflection and brings comfort recalling the good that came from being able to say he was a piece of what has brought out the best in the lives he’s been able to touch.

Larry is survived by his wife Shirley (Margraf), her 5 children and 10 grandchildren as well as his sister Kathy (Tim), brother Mike, sister Teresa (Steve), Sister Tina (Kenny) and his 6 nephews and 3 nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Dick and Lorraine Roberts and twin sister Lorrie Bullock (Mike Calvert).
