Obituary for P.E. "Geno" Standifird

Perry Eugene “Geno” Standifird, 73, passed away peacefully in his home in Lakewood, CO on November 20, 2022. He was born on June 6, 1949 in Grand Junction, CO to Joseph and Mary (née Balzano) Standifird. He was married to Barbara Lujan Standifird for 29 years, with her for 37 years.
Geno is survived by his wife, his son Anthony “Tony” and daughter in law Sarah. He is also survived by grandson Cameron Standifird, granddaughter Myth Cubbison, daughter Lauressa (Damien Akiyama), and grandsons, Dominic (Beth) Baier and Dante Baier. Also survived by his sister, Laura Platz and brother Michael. Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in laws and brother in laws.

Geno grew up on his family farm in Fruita, CO and also attended school there, graduating from Fruita High School in 1967. After high school he joined the United States Army. He served for three years including one year in Vietnam and served in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. After an honorable discharge in 1970 he moved to Denver, CO. He worked for Robinson Brick Company. In 1971 he began his career at the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He retired in 2005 after 37 years service.

Geno had a “quick wit” and would constantly tell jokes to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed bowling, skiing and struggled at golf. He also enjoyed traveling, taking many cruises with his wife and close friends.
He was also an auctioneer for the Boy Scouts in Lakewood, CO.

Geno is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald Standifird.
