Obituary for Ricky Lee Huson

Ricky Lee Huson was born in Fort Bragg, California to Dave & Marilyn Huson on June 3, 1960. He passed from this life on August 21, 2021, in Golden Colorado. Rick was a caring, compassionate man who was always giving of himself to others. He loved ski racing, motorcycles, the outdoors and fishing with friends and family.

After graduating from Otis High School in 1978 Rick worked in construction and telecommunications. He helped install giant radio towers throughout the Western United States before going to work for Carrier in Commerce City installing refrigeration units in trucks and trailers.

While working in construction in 1979 Rick would eat lunch at a food store where he met Kelly. That following summer she followed him to Yuma where he did harvest for the summer. They were married May 8, 1987, in Lakewood. They later split.

Their daughter Ashley was born in 1987 and remained the pride and joy of his life. He cared for her, believed in her, encouraged and guided her. In addition to his love for his daughter, his caring heart led him to be “Pappa” to Sarah, Annie, Alex, Ivan, Carter and Tony, whom he willingly shared his love and life.

He was very talented and had many skills. In 1997 he demolished an old barn that was on his property and began building the house where he lived for the rest of his life. The house took about 3 years to construct, and he was still maintaining it up until his passing.

He met his long-time companion Juanita at diamond shamrock, where she worked in 1997. He would go to the store every morning and they would have coffee before her store opened. They began a life together in 1999 and shared a home and many grandbabies.

Even though Rick faced many health problems throughout his life, he remained positive, and put others before himself. He never complained, was always smiling and lived life to the fullest.

Survivors include his daughter Ashley, granddaughter Myla, Mother Marilyn and Father Dave, Sister Linda, Brother Ken, Spouse Juanita, stepdaughter Sarah, granddaughter Andreanna, granddaughter Alex, grandson Ivan, and grandson Carter.
