They later attended Bear Creek Presbyterian Church where she again was involved in Children’s ministries. Her later years she returned to Glennon Heights Mennonite Church where she was active collecting backpacks for a prison outreach ministry.

Ruth’s gift of service was reflected in her volunteer time at More For Less store, Tennyson Group Home for Boys, and cooking and serving meals for the homeless at Family Promise for 15 years. She also had a gift of hospitality, inviting so many in her home. She took any opportunity to deliver meals to those in need. Every Christmas for many years, she would supply a variety cookie plate to Del’s barbershop for all the customers during the month of December.

Ruth was a loving mother and active grandmother to four grandchildren. She enjoyed thrift stores, garage sales, swimming and reading. She had fun watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and The Andy Griffith Show. Cheese enchiladas, and root beer floats were the number one treat on her list.

Ruth had a sense of humor that brought a smile to all she encountered. She always expressed gratitude to everyone in her life especially at the end of her journey. Her faith was central to her life as she leaned on God during the trials, and gave thanks to Him for the many blessings.

Ruth was a progressive woman for her time. She was a charismatic leader, respected professional, bold confident, but had a gentle side as an empathetic listener, and a kind heart that was always looking for opportunities to serve others.
