After High School he worked at JJ Henry in Portsmouth, and the Newport News ship building and dry dock where he did drafting and blueprints. Stearns Rogers Engineering brought him to Colorado in February of 1974.

He married Patricia Elizabeth Padgett June 8, 1974 and they immediately moved to Colorado in their Orange 1971 Volkswagen Beetle with the Hobie Cat sailboat in tow and they have enjoyed the mountains and the west ever since.

He worked in piping design and eventually Construction Management at many large companies, from Atlanta to San Francisco and from Memphis to the North Slope of Alaska. Working at Coors Brewing Co he fell in love with the City of Golden and its proximity to the mountains. He was an outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and beekeeping. Dirt and mulch were is passion and he absolutely loved his Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate bars! He also was passionate about investing, not only in Fortune 500 stocks, but also real estate. He listened to all sorts of podcasts from the Dirt Dr every Sunday morning to learning about new investments around the country as well at Rich Dad, Poor Dad. He had hoped to go to Mexico with the Mike Boyle Show learning about healthy eating and the culture of Mexican food. He always enjoyed his walks in the neighborhood chatting with friends about politics and gardening. Since retiring in 2014 he indulged in road trips to several National Parks and historical sites from Bryce and Zion National Parks in Utah, to James Madison’s home in Virginia. His favorite movies included anything with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood especially old westerns. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching College Football rooting for Alabama, his NFL team was the Washington Redskins (Commanders) and he always rooted for the Yankees during baseball season.
