Obituary for Willie Lee McCoy

Willie Lee McCoy departed this life on September 9, 2021, at the age of 64, in Littleton, Colorado.

Willie was born February 21, 1957 in Natchez, Mississippi to Lee Andrew McCoy, Sr., and Leeola Cage McCoy. He was raised in Vidalia, LA. and Natchez, MS. with his loving parents and six siblings. He worked as a young boy at a carwash to help support his family and attended Vidalia High School until 10th grade, leaving to go straight to work on the Mississippi bridge line as a floor laborer for 15 years.
Willie married Sharon Perkins on March 22, 1997 and they were married for 15 years. They raised four beautiful children together and were the best of friends throughout their 25 years of friendship.

Willie was a member of the Mercy Seat Baptist Church and was proud of his 22 years of sobriety.

He loved spending time at Magnolia Bluffs casino, watching action movies, watching WWE with his children and was blessed in his later years to travel throughout the United State with his daughter, Marissa. His 1st time flying in an airplane was at the age of 62 to fly to Colorado for his youngest daughter, Marissa’s 21st birthday.

Willie is survived by his aunt, Lucille Cage Larry, sister, Rose McCoy Millicks; children, Laquiste Batiste of Austin, TX., Philip Oji of Dallas, TX., Marissa McCoy of Littleton, CO., and Willie “Dayday” McCoy of Tyler, TX., and his bonus child, Robert “R.J.” Chatman that he claimed as his own; 4 grandchildren, Zion Batiste, Malaya Shelton, Gabriel Shelton, and his newest grandbaby, Fraysia McGee; and a host of many, many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Andrew McCoy; his mother, Leeola Cage McCoy; sister, Lucille McCoy; brother, John McCoy; brother, Lee Andrew McCoyJr. ; sister, Mary McCoy; and sister Calline McCoy.

Willie was the patriarch of the McCoy family after the passing of his late brother Lee Andrew McCoy Jr. in 2005 and was adored by his nephews; Robert Lee McCoy, Damon Jamal McCoy, and Lee Andrew McCoy, III; nieces, Kimberly McCoy Curvin, Tralicia McCoy Thomas, Shaneeka Millicks, and Wendi Millicks

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Vidalia Cemetery. Which is located at 834 Riverside Street, Vidalia, LA.

Will be held at the home of Willie’s cousin, Beatrice Cage Owens at 1034 Martin Luther King Street, Natchez, MS.
